Embossed Dots using the Crop a Dile....

Can't believe its the last day of 2007!

We have just been to the beach for a walk, which was lovely. The sea was so calm.

I was playing with the Crop a Dile last night and found that the embossed dots fit perfectly in the scallop circle punch! Yeah! The scallop circle has so many different ways of decorating it, if theres one punch I use alot its the scallop circle.

I used Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, Ruby Red and Very Vanilla cardstock for this card. The base is half a sheet of A4 folded in half in the Old Olive.

I stamped some more Old Olive with the same ink in the Canvas Background stamp and went over with the leaf stamp from the Carte Postale stamp set. I used the 1/2 circle punch to take off the corners and mounted it onto some Chocolate Chip. I used the Crop a Dile to punch the embossed circles on each corner instead of brads or eyelets.

Next I stamped all over a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock in Ruby Red with the flower spray in the Carte Postale stamp set and layered this onto some Ruby Red. I used the 3/16 corner rounder punch with the guard removed to make the scallop edge on another strip of Ruby Red and embossed the dots in the scallops. I added some Chocolate Chip Taffeta ribbon and then stamped the sentiment from the Cheerful Wishes stamp set in Chocolate Chip. Then pricked all around the edge with the pricking tool & mat set from the Crafters Tool Kit.

I punched out a scallop circle in Chocolate Chip and used the Crop a Dile to emboss the dots in edge scallop. The ribbon holder is from the Hodgepodge set. The flower was stamped in Ruby Red on Very Vanilla and punched out using the 1 1/4 circle punch, then layered on a 1 3/8 circle in Ruby Red. A fire circle brad was added.

This shows the corner embossed dots.

Hello All......

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas. We have been so very lazy here, recovering from the mad few weeks running up to Christmas, not much stamping was done, in fact this is the first and only project I have managed to fit in.....
Family First xxxxx

I have been looking for a desk calendar to replace my one I have been using for this year, but just couldn't find one I liked - so I made one.

I found a calendar over at Amercian Crafts web page and thought I would have a go, this is what I came up with, Pop over to their website and see all the other lovely projects they have made......

All the instructions for their calendar is on a download. I started the same as they did with a piece of 12 x 12 cardstock. This the Chocolate Chip TEXTURED cardstock in the Home Again Hostess Level 1 Free Gift for have a Workshop.

The textured cardstock is just like Brazzil Cardstock. The pack has 8 sheets in 4 colours and 6 sheets of double sided paper and 6 sheets of stickers, which are so thick - lovely set.

I cut the piece of 12x12 in half and folded one of the pieces in half again. This forms one side of the triangle base. The other piece I scored at 1" then 7" and glued all the pieces together to make a Triangle base. The top is where you glue the 1" to the first piece of cardstock. I used the Crop a Dile to make the holes in the top and through the calendar pages.

I love this new tool it sets the eyelets like butter, I have other eyelet tools that work just the same but with the jumbo eyelets nothing would set them for me, My friend Janette showed me how easy it was to set these babies so I treated myself for my new Stampin Up Workshops. I won't be waking up the neighbours now!!!

I made 6 pages and a cover in total and each page has a different month on each side. I did it like this as I wanted to use the Stampin Up Jumbo Eyelets as the calendar would be getting alot of use throughout the year.

This is the other side, the paper is so pretty these photos don't do them justice.

I made the calendar page on Excel and printed them off and layered them onto the cardstock, old olive and bordering blue, then the double sided paper, so each side was different but blended together.

I stamped on the calendar pages with Seeing Spots stamp set.

This view shows you the triangle shape of the calendar. I added some ribbon on the book rings which I got at Staples.

Thanks for stopping by,

Just to Say.......

This will be my last post until after Christmas:-(

I've done all the preps for Christmas and now its time to spend some quality time with my Family - So I won't be posting again for a little while.

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and I hope you have a Happy, Healthy and Merry One.

Thank you ever so much for stopping by my little old blog and I will be back soon,

Tons of Love, Jenny:-)xx

Criss Cross Card....

If you haven't already visited Capture the Moment Blog you must, Nicole has some amazing Tutorials. This is one of them a Criss Cross Box..... Nicole has even got a download with the measurements so pop over to her blog for the instructions.....

I used Old Olive and Chocolate Chip cardstock and inkpads. The stamp set is the Carte Postale set.

I used the scallop punch to make 2 of the sunflowers sort of shapes (shown in an earlier post) in Old Olive and I punched a normal scallop in Chocolate chip. I layered them up Old Olive, Chocolate Chip then another Old Olive, twisting them each time as I layered them. Then I used the 1 3/8 circle punch in chocolate chip and then the flower was stamped in Old Olive and punched out with the 1 1/4 circle punch.

A close up view of the layers behind the flower.

The ribbon is SU Very Vanilla.

I added a plastic bag and some after eight mint chocolates as they come in brown and green wrappers.

This is my boxing day treat for the table when our family comes to lunch.

A Tote Bag.....

I sneaked some craft stuff inside as its so very cold in the
garden! I saw this cute little Tote Bag on Leslie's Blog, pop
over and see all her fabulous creations.
I decided to use the same cardstock and designer paper brocade background as the last card I made. Love the Chocolate!

When I slipped the card in the Tote Bag to see if it would fit, the little circle fitted in the half circle I cut out on the Tote Bag!

Now I just have to make 4 other cards to finish the gift set off.

Thanks for looking,
Jenny:-)xx

A different scallop shape.....

Look at the different shape you can make with the Stampin Up Scallop Punch.....

I saw this on a couple of blogs recently but I've forgotten which ones.

After punching out the normal scallop, add a glue dot or some snail adhesive and attach to a piece of card so you can feed it back into the punch.

Like this. Place the scallop edges inthe centre and line up centrally so that when you punch the punch go through the centre of each scallop as in the photo.

This is another way of using just one punch.

At Last.....

I have done all my Christmas Cards and they are in the post. I've been so busy with my work over the last week, not much stamping has been done.

I ordered a few bits and bobs for myself! from Stampin Up and I just want to play but Christmas preps are getting in the way and the kiddies break up tomorrow......

I also played on doing a video! but charged up the recorder and Doh! nothing appears on the view finder when you record, it plays the tapes ok but will not record! So will have to get it sorted before I can do that. My workspace is much better but its freezing out there at the moment and I feel like I'm shaking while I'm stamping because its cold!

This card is from the Carte Postale and cheerful wishes stamp sets. The cardstock is Chocolate Chip, Old Olive and Very Vanilla. The DP is Brocade Background Mmm! I used the Rectangle nestabilities and the inkpads were Chocolate Chip and Old Olive.

One of the things I brought was the stack and store caddy for the eyelets and buttons. It holds upto 24 containers, OH Dear!

Check back later as I have found a new trick with the scallop circle punch!

Borough Market....

Sorry no cards today, as we went to London Borough Market yesterday. Its a market thats been going for 250 years under the railway bridges near London Bridge....

Its full of market stalls selling lots of different foods. We got some lovely mushrooms and pickles. It was so cold up there though. We went to St Pauls Catherdral to warm up but only got as far as the reception as it would have cost £30 to enter, will do it one day but you get a good look from the reception. The ceilings are amazing and they have been doing lots of cleaning of the stonework on the outside.

Anyway hope to get some stamping done this week but its a busy working week,

Jenny:-)xx

Addicted Ladies Christmas Card.....

I made this card for 4 of my bestest craft buddies and we went out for lunch yesterday as that will be the last time we see eachother before the kiddies break up for Christmas......

Can't believe its Christmas in just over a weeks time!

The base card is 14.5cm x 29cm folded in half, in Real Red cardstock. It had to be this big as you can see the stamp is huge! Its Elzybells Girls Sleigh. I coloured in with the SU markers and used the snowflake/flowery image from the In the Spotlight Hostess Set. The bottom is whisper white ran through the bigshot with the cuttlebug embossing folder. The snow was done with the glistering white writer glue and dazzling diamonds over the top.

Hope you have a great day,

Jenny:-)xx

Making a Mess.....

I woke up this morning with a brilliant idea of how to tidy my room!!!

Boy! was I wrong, Mad.......... I had all the desks out in the garden again and all the drawers, and as usual nothing fitted where I wanted them to fit. I nearly took everything up the tip!!

I couldn't believe I was re-arranging my room again!

Finally finished at 3o'clock,

I now have a L-shaped desk and everything up on the walls.

How did I do that you ask..........I pinched my Darling Hubbie's large desk and gave him my little one! How mean is that! I've had my eye on that desk for months. It used to be mine but he uses large drawings for his work, But he says its too cold out there......

So I thought want not want.......his large desk....Hee Hee

I will photo my room tomorrow when its light.

Oval Boxes......

I found this Tutorial for making an Oval Box.

Pop over to Dannies Blog and watch her video tutorial on how to make one of these oval boxes.

The only difference I did was used the oval from a nestability die. I made the box to match the previous card using the Touch of Nature stamp set.

This is the view of the top of the box, done the same to match the card.......

I might off mentioned how I like things to match!

Sorry not many posts since Friday but we went away for the weekend and yesterday was christmas shopping ARH!

But hopefully I will be back later, If someone does my ironing pile that is in the way off getting out to the craft room!

A Touch of Nature......

I just had to play with this set - Touch of Nature, love butterflies. The set has a bird as well and I had a robin on my bird table this afternoon and intended to use the bird from this set, but didn't in the end. So I will have to make another.......

The cardstock is Perfect Plum and Pale Plum. The size is 14cm x 19cm scored at 12cm in the Perfect Plum. The next layer is 21.5cm x 13cm in Pale Plum.

First I stamped the left side and the front with the Paisley background stamp in the same colour inkpads as the cardstock. I like the effect of versamark on cardstock but because these inkpads from stampin up match the cardstock perfectly, I use them now.
The ovals are the nestabilities, Oh! Dear Sharon I realise I do indeed need all the sizes as I would have put a straight edge oval inbetween the larger ones!!!!

I stamped on whisper white with Mellow Moss ink with the leaf stamp from the set, Then the flower in Perfect Plum and watercoloured it in with Pale Plum. I used the markers to colour in the butterfly and mounted it on 3D foam pads.

I also used the markers to get the colour where I wanted on the branch and berry stamp image.

The Ribbon on the left holds the card shut, but you just pull the front to open and this is the inside of the card.

The sentiment stamps are Happy Everything set. I continued the branch on the inside as well.

Have a great evening, I have a pile of ironing to finish,
Jenny:-)xx

Loads of Love using the Stamp a ma jig....

I made this little box with the Loads of Love stamp set in the earlier post using the Stamp a Ma Jig tool........

The cardstock is Pretty in Pink and Close to Cocoa, as well as the inkpads. I used the pads to watercolour by squeezing the lids and the ink goes on the inside lid, just use your paintbrush or aquapainter to colour.

The embossing folder is the cuttlebug spots and dots.

The set has loads words but this is the accessories set you can get to go with it, with even more pictures and sentiments. Also little puppies!!

I wrapped the white ribbon around the box and made a slot in the 2 tag punches before tying a knot.

The box took half a sheet of cardstock, will hold a lovely little present for someone.

Have a good day,
Jenny:-)xx

Stamp a ma Jig Tutorial.....

This is the Stamp a ma jig..... Its a tool you use to position your stamp in the correct place. Works brilliantly by lining up your stamps perfectly and especially with the 2 step stamping technique. You will save loads of cardstock by not making so many errors when images or words are not quite in the place you thought they were going to be.

Alphabets can be used with ease with this tool. The tool allows you to line up the letters.

Unless when you are tired and then my eyes see wonky anyway!!

You get a black handle and a sheet of plastic. One side of the plastic is glossy and one side is matt. Doesn't matter what side you use.

The handle can be used for either left handed or right handed people. You line up the black handle with the corner of the plastic sheet and stamp your image onto the plastic sheet.

As you can see with the car stamp, this is on the plastic sheet.

See the image on the plastic sheet.

Just an example with a large stamp, I didn't need the car to be in any position so for the box I stamped the car straight onto the cardstock, But I could off painted a road or hill for example and then I would want to use the stamp a ma jig to position the car in the correct place without guessing and making a complete mess up!

(Gosh what a long sentence!)
You get the jist though right!!!:-)
Position the plastic sheet in the position you want the stamp to be. Put the black handle around the top of the plastic sheet as below. Then remove the plastic sheet and line up the stamp with the rightangle and press the stamp down.

See the hearts are lined up perfectly on top of the cute little van - Loads of Love!

Cont.....

Now do the little lady in the driving seat, the set has a man as well!

Stamp the head using the stamp onto the plastic sheet. Then lay the plastic sheet in the position you want the head to be stamped, again line up the black handle, then remove the sheet and use the stamp with the handle and stamp the head.

This is what it looks like when complete, colour in and make something with it.

Thanks for looking,
Jenny:-)xx

Flaky Friends......

I had to stay in all day yesterday waiting for the cable man to come and look at our TV box as its been playing up. I brought some stuff in from my craft room as I can never hear the door go when I'm locked away in the world of craft.......as my DH calls it!

Some more boxes came from my orders so I sorted them all out, saw more lovely stuff I would love to order!!!! I can see that will be a problem Hee Hee....

For this card I played with the SU markers these are just so ........Mmm! I've always loved colouring and to have the pens match the card is brilliant. I saw on someone's blog (forgotten) which link of a link I found it but they were explaining how to make markers from the blender pens by dipping them in the reinkers. This would be fab for the in colours! Great idea.

I didn't realised you should store your pens horizontal but easy with these SU ones as they already come in the plastic storage container. Just got to reorganise my rooms to find room for them! Oh no! not again.

Back to this card - Its the Flaky Friends stamp set used on Always Artichoke and Ruby Red. After stamping the image in black, I coloured in and added some shimmering chalks for the background. I added some ribbon. The card is 14cm x 22cm scored at 14cm and folded. I used the markers for the tree, colouring straight on the stamp and used the blender pens to fill in the colours. I've never been very good with the blender pens before but I tried them again and was a bit less heavy handed with them and they didn't rub a hole in the card this time!

For this one, so simple as I have still so many to get done. I can see why some people do the Make a Stack!!

The base card is A5 folded in half in Bordering Blue cardstock. I used the snowflake embossing folder on the white before taping it down I added some ribbon. I stamped and coloured in the image again and added some more blue a couple of brads.

As the postage is being double checked this year, the ones I am posting will have to have less hardware on them than usual, as they are charging the person receiving the card extra money....

I will be doing the stamp a ma jig today, sorry its late as the light hasn't been brilliant for photos.
Thanks for looking,
Jenny:-)xx

Lovely as a Tree Christmas

Another Christmas card made!

The cardstock is Always Artichoke, shimmery white and wintergreen designer paper.

I stamped the trees in Basic Black, which is a waterproof inkpad. I watercoloured the sky with bashful blue ink and added the dazzling diamonds with the 2way glue pen. I wrapped around some silver cord from the Market Gallery and added the circle image from the perfect presents set. Some pricking and ribbon and the card was done.

Just another 50 or so to do!!!!

Tuesday 4 December 2007

200th Post!.....

Bit Late today! New Stamp sets needed cutting and mounting first before I could play! So been catching up with my book work for the last 4 days!

As theres not much time left before my christmas cards have to be made, written, posted, I decided that simple would be a good idea!

This stamp set is called Lovely as a Tree. I don't like making the same card over and over again, so I decided this stamp would be a good one to try out in lots of different colours but keeping the basic layout the same(ish). The cardstock and inkpad is Old Olive. The Merry Christmas sentiment is from the Seasonal Wishes stamp set. The silver brads are huge ones from making memories and the silver cord stuff is from the Market Gallery.

Changed the colours and added some DP. This is Always Artichoke and Rose Red. I used the pastels for the sky, and dazzling diamonds for the snow effect. I pricked around and took out 2 corners with the ticket corner punch (or you can use the 1/2" circle punch)....

Same stamp sets as before. Beautiful papers, doublesided this is designer ones in Rose Red.

Another candle, stamped on the tissue this time, works just as well if not better.

Jenny:-) xx

Stamping on Candles....

A very quick try at stamping on candles!

It is so easy. Stamp on a piece of tissue you wrap pressies in. I coloured in with my marker pens. Cut this image roughly out as close as you can get but it doesn't have to be neat. Lay this on your candle, then wrap a piece of greaseproof paper around the candle. Then heat the image with your heat gun waving it about so not to burn the candle. The colour changes so you can tell when the tissue has attached itself to the candle.

Check out Caz's blog on the right she has made some......Brilliant!

Thanks for looking,

Jenny:-)xx
